DIRECTIONS TO SHIP
Now, finding the ship is not hard but it is tricky, especially if you make your first visit in the dark.  Here’s what to do once you reach Canal Street in Richmond

Canal Street is at the end of Richmond Parkway.  It is the main street in the Port of Richmond.  Follow Canal Street to the very end where you will be stopped by a gate and fence -- on your left you will see The ARCO Marine Terminal.   Just before you get to the gate there is a road that goes to the right, marked by a small sign that points to the SS Red Oak Victory, Shipyard 3.   There is also a bigger sign that says “MSRC”.  Follow these to the right.  It will appear that you are cutting through a parking lot.  On your left you will see a fence.  The road will wind around car lots and boats.  You will think you are lost but fear not.   Follow the fence line.

After 1.3 miles following this road and the occasional small signs for the SS Red Oak you will arrive at a General Warehouse building, and several old and run down buildings (a part of the Shipyard's history).  At this point you will follow the road to the right - and drive in front of these buldings.

Directly in front of you, you will see the ship.  Drive through the gate to the ship, or park in front of the gate.   Then, it’s up the gangplank and you’re on board.
